Job description

  • Hours: 8 -12 hours/week
  • Duration: 5-year project. Annual contracts, renewable, based on performance
  • Location: Anywhere in NSW (working from home office)

About the position

We are looking for an enthusiastic person with experience in environmental restoration and education and the ability to work independently as a contractor under the guidance of a voluntary Executive Committee and project steering group. The Project Officer will report to the President of AABR or nominated member of the Executive Committee.

The Project Officer will have a key project delivery role in the implementation of the Environmental Restoration Integrated Knowledge (ERIK) Learning System project funded through the NSW Environmental Trust; and to work with the AABR Board, AABR Committees and members and external collaborators to develop an easily accessible online learning system and repository for best practice guidance in relation to ecological and environmental restoration.

The Project Officer would be required to implement the ERIK project, including:

  • Undertaking actions in the project business plan
  • Manage committee and consultation processes
  • Undertake communications and promotions regarding the project
  • Collate information and report on the project to the NSW Environmental Trust

Selection Criteria

Essential:

  • Demonstrated project management skills and experience, including project development and design, implementation, reporting and evaluation, and to deliver project deadlines, within budget and to an agreed standard.
  • Demonstrated high level written and oral communication skills using a range of techniques and mechanisms as appropriate.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to develop strong networks across councils and other stakeholders in environmental restoration.
  • Experience and understanding of contemporary best practice bush regeneration / ecological restoration skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project risks, problem solve and respond to changing priorities.
  • Experience implementing best practice bush regeneration/ ecological restoration projects
  • Willingness and availability to travel throughout NSW as required.
  • ABN, public liability and professional indemnity insurance.

Desirable:

  • Membership of AABR
  • Experience in delivering environmental education projects.
  • Diploma or equivalent experience in the field of project management, with experience in education OR vocational education with experience managing programs.
