Scaling Up Restoration
In order to provide corridors of connectivity for fauna habitat needs and the ability for flora to migrate as a response to climate change and landscape fragmentation, large-scale linkage partnership projects have been Scaling Up. The worksheets explore landscape scale projects that are being implemented and provide numerous examples and links to further information to explore the topic with reference to the National Restoration Standards.
Seed and plant production areas & genetic issues
These resources explore the issues around species selection and provenance within the context of a fragmented landscape in a climate-changing world. The fact sheet provides a summary of Principles 1 and 3 and Appendix 3 from the National Restoration Standards. The student worksheets investigate establishing seed production facilities and provenance selection to optimise species’ resilience.
Appropriate approaches
These resources explore Principle 2 of the Standards and identifying the appropriate ecological restoration approach. The fact sheet discusses how site resilience is assessed and the obstacles to recovery that need to be considered in choosing a restoration approach. The worksheet requires students to explore a local site and conduct a resilience assessment as well as deepening their understanding of why certain approaches are undertaken through video case studies.
